Guide to Cianciana
and Sicily

Our best spots, recommendations and advices for your stay in Cianciana

We are Shelly & Bo

We fell in love with the town – and we fell in love in town!

We both have a house in Cianciana, and want to share our best experiences and advice, so you can get the most out of Sicily.

The western part of Sicily is not as well known – and overrun – as the east coast. In our opinion, this part is considerably more authentic, charming, beautiful and welcoming, and everything from restaurants, hotels and shopping is correspondingly cheaper than in the tourist traps of the east coast.

Below you will find our best advice and recommendations for your stay in Cianciana, and for when you go on adventures in the surrounding area, the villages, the countryside, the mountains and along the coast.

We are far from finished finding new spots ourselves, so this page will be under continuous development.

Welcome to Cianciana and Sicily!

Any inputs, ideas or hitten gems we don't know about?

We would love for you to share – please click below!

Cianciana

The most important spots in Cianciana:

Bars and cafes:
There is a good selection of bars and cafes in the town, each with its own charm. Some more local, others more international. Try them out and find out who serves your favorite cappuccino.

Restaurants:

  • Lady Rose – typical Italian menu with meat, pasta and fish dishes. Large selection of pizzas. In the summer months the terrace opens with a fantastic view and sunset if you eat before the locals.

  • Cortile Halykos – typical Italian menu with meat, pasta and fish dishes. Large selection of pizzas. Cozy interior, especially in the summer when you can sit in the small courtyard by the well.

  • St’Agnuni Bistrot Sicano – modern Italian cuisine, which does things a little differently. Slightly higher price point than the others, but definitely worth the money. Beautiful location with tables around the fountain and sunset. Now open for lunch on Sundays from 12:30 to 14:30.

  • Panificio San Giuseppe – actually a bakery, but serves lunch with homemade pasta dishes, among other things.

  • La Torretta – typical Italian menu with meat, pasta and fish dishes as well as pizza. In summer the roof terrace opens with a view of the city.

  • Food Truck – Just opposite the Convento you will find the city's newest eatery, Il FurgonGino di Panini. Here you can get panini and burgers in many versions, as well as french fries and some appetizers. During holidays and events in the city, the owner also places its ice cream truck (FurgonGino di Gelati) in strategic places, and serves delicious Italian gelati.

Supermarkets and grocers/greengrocers:The town has two real supermarkets, Coop and ARD Discount. Both are located on Corso Commendatore Cinquemani Arcuri, on the way out of town. In addition, there are four small grocers, which sell everything from fresh vegetables to freshly cut cold cuts and a selection of local cheeses.

Butchers:
There are two butchers, as well as the butcher in Coop. With a little Italian knowledge you can get help with almost everything, from freshly minced beef to breading chicken.

Bakers:
Some of the bars in the town sell panificio (baked goods), which can be anything from croissants to sausage horns, and many also have cookies and actual party cakes on display. Panettone, a type of Italian sponge cake, is sold in connection with almost all holidays.

Panificio Messina is a classic Sicilian bakery with a large selection of cakes and flutes, primarily white bread.

The newer Gambino Bakery makes delicious, slightly darker bread with a perfect crust for dipping in freshly pressed olive oil. They also make various sandwiches, pizzas and the like.

Other shops:There is a wide selection of hardware stores, florists, gift shops and the like in Cianciana. It is not always easy to see the shop front, but explore the streets and side streets of the town - they hide more than you think.

Post office:
The town's post office is located right opposite the new playground on Corso Commendatore Cinquemani Arcuri. There is also an ATM here. Next to the Dolce Vita bar on Corso Vittorio Emanuele (the main street) there is also a small post office.

Bank:

The only bank in Cianciana is BAPS, located on the main street Corso Vittorio Emanuele, not far from the large pharmacy, on the opposite side of the road. Next to the bank there is an ATM.

The bank's opening hours are:
Monday to Thursday:
08:20 – 13:20, 15:15 – 16:45
Friday:
08:20 – 13:20, 15:15 – 16:15

Medical Center
- is located on Salita Enna behind the Q8 gas station.

112 is the European emergency phone number to contact any emergency service throughout the EU.

If you know it is a medical emergency, you can call directly 118, rather than 112.

If you can hold on a minute, you can take yourself to any “Pronto Soccorso”. This is the emergency room in Italy.
